about

I record the medicine songs that I receive from my Nature Elders during our ceremonial dialogues. (Thank You Water CD)

When I received this melody from a grove of Douglas Fir Trees in Quesnel BC, it was with the implicit instructions that I invite people to sing it once more with their Trees and Forests.

I have kept the arrangement sparse so that there is lots of room for you to harmonize while you play and sing it for your Trees. The lyrics are in sanskrit, the hindu language of prayer and are variations of Tara's name.

Om tare tuttare tu re soha

BENEFITS
Many people have told me that when they play this melody for their Trees they seem to recognize it and come alive. Others have shared that something in them came alive around their relations with Trees and inspired them to pick up garbage and tend to the needs of their Trees more consistently.

Your experience will be your own. My wish for you and your Tree relatives is that singing this melody together brings you closer in heart mind and action.

This track is 8 min. long and wonderful to play live with your Trees or in a meditation to nourish Trees and Forests from a distance.

All proceeds benefit the Honouring Tree Elders Initiative.

THE STORY
In the winter of 2019 I asked the Universe to send me an original melody for the sanskrit compassion mantra called Om Tare.

A few months later on a Saturday morning in May I suddenly began singing a melody. When I asked on the inner, Is this melody for the Om Tare chant?, I heard no response. Instead I was shown the grove of Douglas Fir Trees who live near my home. I took this as a sign to go visit them so I packed up my yoga mat, a few instruments and left the house.

It was early spring so the temperature outside was cool and damp. When I arrived at the grove I was delighted to see Grandfather Sun come out from behind a cloud and lay down a strip of warm sunshine in front of me. With a nod of gratitude to Grandfather for his gift , I rolled out my yoga mat and laid down. I fell asleep instantly and when I awoke I was singing the melody you hear on the recording. It was not the one I had been singing earlier.

Accompanied by my sruti box (a bellows instrument from India that plays a drone) I sang the melody over and over. My heart was full of gratitude and with my outer sight I gazed at each of the Fir Tree elders and sang the melody to them. With my inner sight I watched a vision unfold which seemed to be from time long ago.

I saw women with long hair and white flowing dresses and shawls processing around the outside of a grove of Trees. Some carried drums, others carried flowers and herbs and they were all singing this melody. I watched as each woman left the line and began to sing, dance and touch one Tree in particular.

After successive repetitions I began to see a symbol materialize in the air between the woman and the Tree. It was the lemniscate, the infinity symbol with Tree and Woman on either end. In that moment I understood that this melody, if sung again across the modern world, could re-weave the sacred connection, the eternal bond between humanity and the Tree people.
